17 Steps is a fast-paced Japanese mahjong duel. You handpick 13 tiles from a pool of 34 as your starting hand, then race to tenpai and victory within just 17 discards. No chi, no pon — only tsumo and ron, stripped down to what mahjong is really about: hand efficiency and reading your opponent.
17 Steps is a fast-paced, strategy-dense mahjong duel based on the classic Japanese variant known as the 17-Step Showdown.
At the start of each round, you're dealt 34 tiles — but you must choose only 13 as your starting hand.
Play it safe, or go all-in — your decision defines the entire match.
Once both players lock in their hands, the countdown begins:
17 turns. One draw, one discard each turn.
Fail to win within 17 steps, and the round ends in a draw.
No pon. No chi. No kan.
No tsumo — only ron.
