What you do
- Ride a wagon train east while the dead chase it down the road
- Post your Settlers on the wagons, and roll barrels and fling nets at what closes in
- Level up during a run and pick a skill card each time, Tier1 - Tier3 Skills
- Bank Headway at every checkpoint you pass — win or lose — and spend it on permanent upgrades
- Come back stronger and get further than last time. Constant progression
Keep them off the wagons.
The town could be held. The road cannot. Towards the Gulch puts you on a caravan that never stops moving, with the dead running behind it and gaining. It is a prequel to "Dead Man's Gulch", riding east in the hopes of finding a good place to settle down...
There is no wall or roof to hide on. What you have is a rolling line of wagons, the Settlers standing on them, and whatever you can throw off the back.
Run the road, hold the line
- Ditch wagons that are about to get overrun — every new wagon you migrate to provides more places to post Settlers
- Roll barrels into the chasers, send gliders out over the road and fling nets that take up to eight in a single throw
- Ricochets that carry from one body to the next, and skills that make them bounce further
- Twelve kinds of dead run this road — the seven from the town, and five more that only come out here
Fall behind, learn, ride again
Every run ends. What you learned does not. Headway carries over into a ledger of permanent upgrades — more gold, steadier throwing, and bounces that go further — so the next road starts a little less hopeless than the last.
- Real progression from run to run
- Progress saves itself
- English, German and Spanish
A note from the developer
Towards the Gulch is where I took everything the town taught me and put it on wheels. I wanted to frame the existing mechanics in a completely new format, and to add some that only work on a moving road.
If you play it and something feels off, tell me — I read everything and want to make this the best it can be.
