“In ink, you shall be remembered.” -Cato

Deep in the Salt Valley, near the edge of the Dog Isle, here lies the heart of the Dogs. The cradle of their civilization, the lasting monument whose own name attests to the legacy of the Dogs and their will to live:

THE CITY OF INK.

Discover the history behind the City of Ink, the snowy candle-lit city featured in the game Darkway: Murder of King Mere!

What began as a fertile valley of Salt peaks, the cradle for Dog civilization, now a desolate but cozy refuge. What happened to cause such a drastic shift in the climate of such a storied and integral city?

This official lore, art, and dev book expands the world of Darkway: Murder of King Mere, detailing over 2,500 years of dynastic history, from the trade ages of the Silver Ink Reign, the cataclysmic Great Lorbel Collision, and the rise of the Dog Empyre.

Inside this archive, with lore drafted by the renowned Commander Cato (the same Cato you meet in Murder of King Mere), you will discover:

• The Complete Chronicle: Detailed histories of the Golden, Blotched, Silver, Dark, and Empyric Ink Reign monarchs. From the founding King Casper Salt, to the modern King Mere Ink.

• Secrets of the Darkway: More information on the metaphysics of Dreamers, Heralds, and the terraced geography of the Isle of Dogs.

• Concept Art & Design Notes: Learn from Pierce, the developer, about the development of Murder of King Mere through early city iterations, district maps, character portraits, and developer notes.

Part lore book, part developer journal of Darkway: Murder of King Mere, and part hint at what’s to come, Darkway: Lore of The City of Ink chronicles the complete history of this storied city.
