tri-Ace were really cooking with this one... A TON of care, love and skill from a lot of people went into creating Resonance of Fate. It is truly a revolutionary RPG (even to this day!) with an outstanding soundtrack by two legends Kohei Tanaka and Motoi Sakuraba, a unique ATB-esque battle system that combines strategy, over-the-top action and style, a complex weapon customization system, and an addictive puzzle-like world exploration, all set in the dystopian-but-beautiful industrial expanse of Basel. My single problem with RoF is the narrative. The story mostly exists in cutscenes, usually featuring Cardinals discussing Basel, the God and personal issues, at the beginning/end of each chapter. Sometimes a chapter will focus on the main trio, but not always. I'm interested in themes the story presents, but the way it's told is not my favorite. Anyway, Resonance of Fate is not only one of the most inventive experiences in the genre, but gaming in general! This masterpiece deserved a better fate...
